Monrovia, Liberia- Liberty Party Vice Chairman Abraham Darius has been summoned by the Civil Law Court of the Republic of Liberia to answer to charges of Libel filed by a Group calling themselves “The Plebeians Common People of Liberia.”
The group which is an auxiliary of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change sued Mr. Dillon for ‘Action of Damages’ emanating from a video posted by the LP Vice Chair in which he stated that the Government of Liberia was training militia.
The complaint which was filed by its Executive Director Joseph Jake Brown, wants the Civil Law Court to hold Mr. Dillon liable for Libel and make him pay an amount of Five Thousand United States Dollars (US$5,000.00) for damages .
Meanwhile, Oliver Dillon, the brother of AB Darius Dillon has been arrested on charges of murder, something many say is politically motivated.
According to reports, Mr. Oliver Dillon was attacked by three men while on his way home, and he managed to overpower one of them, subsequently killing him.
The original police report cited self defense, however, on Wednesday, Mr. Oliver Dillon was arrested and charged with murder by the Liberia National Police.
Observers and members of the opposition have attributed the junior Dillon’s arrest to his brother Darius involvement in the planned June 7 protest and his critical stance against the Government of Liberia.
Mr. Darius Dillon himself in a Facebook live webcast accused the Liberian government of witch-hunt, attributing his brother’s arrest to tactics employed by the government to negotiate his silence.
There have been no official statement from the Government of Liberia on Dillon’s arrest.
