Monrovia, Liberia: The Liberian Billboard has been reliably informed, that many employees of the Monrovia City Corporation Police are either being dismissed or demoted to accommodate members of the ruling CDC’s Sabu Unit of its youth wing.
Multiple sources who work at the entity and asked to remain on condition of anonymity said, Monrovia City Mayor who is also Chair of the CDC’s Youth Wing has forcibly employed and elevated members of the Sabu Unit above long serving and experienced employees at the entity.
Further investigations by The Liberian Billboard discovered that on Monday, a 25-year veteran and a director of the Monrovia City Police only identified as Col. Feika died suddenly after he was demoted from his position in favor of a member of the CDC Sabu Unit.
“The whole City Corporation is now like a CDC party headquarters. No head and tail. Once you are not a CDCian, you get demoted and with no voice. People who have served under various administrations void of party alliances have to either pretend to be a CDCian or a real CDCian before you can maintain your position or employment. It has become a real mess,” a staff of the entity told our investigative desk.
The Sabu Unit of the Coalition for Democratic Change is a division Fios the party’s youth wing known for its harsh, violent and aggressive reputation.
During the 2017 general elections, then candidate George Weah promised massive employment, with specific emphasis on the youth polutation of the country. Whether the employment of members of his party’s Sabu Unit is the execution of such plan, is not clear.
