Fallen Montserrado County Senator, Geraldine Doe-Sheriff To Be Buried On Saturday


Monrovia, Liberia: Funeral arrangements for the late Montserrado Senator, Geraldine Doe-Sheriff, has been released by the Government of Liberia.

A Ministry of Foreign Affairs release says, a book of condolence will be opened for the fallen Senator at the Rotunda of the Capitol Building on Tuesday, March 12, 2019, between 10:00am-3:45pm, and on Wednesday, March 13, 2019, between 10:00am-4:00pm.

On Thursday, March 14, 2019, the remains of the late Montserrado County Senator will be taken from the Samuel Stryker funeral parlour to the Capitol Building to lie in state from 10:00am, after which it will be returned to the Samuel A. Stryker Funeral Home.

A family silent wake-keeping will be held at the home of the sister of the deceased in Congo Town on Friday, March 15, 2019 from 6:00pm-12:00am, according to the release.

A church wake-keeping will precede the funeral on Saturday, March 16, 2019, at 10:00am at the Sacred Heart Cathedral on Broad Street, to be followed by funeral rites at 11:00am at the same venue. The late Senator Doe-Sheriff will be buried at the Kaizer Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Brewerville, Montserrado County.

Meanwhile, President George Weah, as a mark of respect to the fallen Senator, has declared a two days of national mourning on Friday, March 15, 2019, and on Saturday, March 16, 2019. The Liberian flag is expected to be flown at half-mast from all public buildings in Montserrado County.
