Monrovia, Liberia: Information reaching The Liberian Billboard says, Montserrado County District 17 Representative, Hanson Kiazolu, is set to replace Charles Sirleaf, as Deputy Central Bank Governor for Operations.
According to reports, Rep. Kiazolu was recommended to President Weah for the position by Speaker Bhofal Chambers.
Hon. Kiazolu ran under the banner of the Unity Party in District 17 for Representative during the 2017 elections, but abruptly resigned from the party this week without concrete reason.
“You know, before you get job or a big position in this government, you have to be a CDCian. Kiazolu had to resign from the Unity Party for consideration for the position,” a source with inside knowledge of the situation told The Liberian Billboard.
During the Sirleaf Unity Party-led regime, Hon. Kiazolu served as comptroller at the Ministry of Finance, a position he held until his election as Representative of District 17.
Kiazolu faces an uphill battle with CDCians who saw many original CDCians as favorites for the position. His appointment to the position when confirmed, will bring to two, the number of by-elections to be held in Montserrado County; a a vacant Senate seat is up for grabs in Montserrado County as a result of the death of Senator Geraldine Doee Sheriff who is to be buried this weekend.
This is a developing story. The Liberian Billboard will keep you updated on more developments.
