Rep. Yekeh Kolubah Requests Ruling CDC Chair, Mulbah Morlu To Appear Before House Plenary On President’s Assassination Claim


Monrovia, Liberia: Monsterrado County District 10 Representative, Yekeh Kolubah, has requested the House of Representatives to invite Mr. Mulbah Morlu, ruling Coalition for Democratic Change Chair, to appear before plenary and explain in detail, claims of an assassination plot against President George Weah.

In a communication dated February 7, 2019, Representative Kolubah informed plenary that Mr. Morlu accused the opposition of plotting to assassinate President Weah. He said, Mr. Morlu allegations should not be taken lightly and that it has the propensity of igniting chaos and destabilizing Liberia.

Co-chair of the House’s Defense Committee, Hon. Kolubah also said that Mr. Morlu statement would instigate attacks against the opposition, which would in turn be a contravention of the tenants of democracy.

Also in the communication, Hon. Kolubah reminded lawmakers of the ruling CDC Chair earlier statement concerning the missing L$16 billion in which he claimed seeing pickups loaded with Liberian Banknotes leaving the National Housing Bank CBL’s vault.

Hon. Yekeh further emphasized that the House of Representatives deserves all necessary clarity by Mr. Morlu, and that his clarity should be backed by evidence.

There have been no word from Chairman Morlu since news of Hon. Kolubah request was presented to plenary.
