Unity Party Assistant Secretary General, Mo Ali, resigns from CDC-led government

Monrovia, Liberia- The Assistant Secretary General for Press and Propaganda of the Unity Party, has resigned from his position in the CDC-led government.

Mo Ali, the UP Assistant Secretary General for Press and Public Affairs announced his resignation in a Facebook post on Wednesday, January 30, 2018.

The Unity Party stalwart since October 5, 2015, served the Ministry of Finance Planning and Development as Coordinator for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene. He expressed his appreciation to authorities of the Ministry and the Liberian people for affording him the opportunity to serve Liberia.

No specific reason was given for Ali’s resignation, however, rumors in political circles say, his resignation may have been the result of his refusal to accept his new appointment as the MFDP WASH regional coordinator for Grand Kru County.

Mo Ali has been seen as thorn in the flesh of the ruling party, famously at the forefront of the Bring Back Our Money protest as it relates to the missing L$16 billion banknotes., and also vocal and critical on national issues.

Sources say, the Unity Party Assistant Secretary General presence in the CDC-led government was said to have created jitters among top partisans of the Coalition for Democratic Change; especially at a strategic government entity like the Ministry of Finance.
